Marguerite Wilma (Thomas) Ewald – September 15, 1900 – September 1946.

SHORT ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. HENRY EWALD THURSDAY EVENING

SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, FOUR DAUGHTERS, HER MOTHER. FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Ewald, age 46, well known Marble Rock woman, were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Marble Rock under the direction of the Rev. I. J. Deines, pastor of Saint Paul’s American Lutheran Church. Burial was made in West Side Cemetery, at Marble Rock.

Mrs. Ewald had been ill only eight days and had been taken to the Charles City hospital six days before her death.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thomas, she was born on a farm west of Greene September 15, 1900. She attended the Mount Nebo rural school and later the Greene high school from which she was graduated in 1919. For three years she taught in the rural schools of Butler County and Floyd County.

She was married to Mr. Ewald December 23, 1923, and the young couple established a hoe on a farm north of Marble Rock.

She is survived by her husband and four daughters, Mrs. Ralph Behnke of Greene, Lorraine of Mason City, and Maxine and Marlys at home; her mother, Mrs. Bertha Thomas of Greene, and one grandchild. Her father preceded her in death.

There are two sisters, Mrs. Edgar Ewald and Mrs. Kenneth Rodeman of Greene, and two brothers, Ira Thomas of Greene and Lloyd Thomas of Cedar Falls.

The Marble Rock church was filled for the services Sunday afternoon. There were relatives and friends present from Nashua, Cedar Falls, Rudd, Rockford, Waterloo, Waverly, Clarksville, Dougherty, Greene and Saint Paul, Minnesota.
