Oliver Yerrick

January 25, 1841 – February 25, 1927

Oliver Yerrick was born in Norton Township, Summit County, Ohio, January 25, 1941, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ida Burge, in Waterloo, February 25, 1927.

When he was a small boy his parents moved to Naperville, Illinois. In 1856 the family came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Marble Rock.

He was married to Miss Lucena Fish of Waverly May 30, 1867. They lived at Marble Rock until 1891, when they moved to Waterloo. His life companion passed away two years ago this coming May.

Mr. Yerrick was one of the charter members of the Marble Rock Baptist Church. In Waterloo his membership was with the First Baptist Church.

Since 1921 Mr. and Mrs. Yerrick made their home with their daughter Mrs. Burge at 318 Irving St., Waterloo, Iowa, where Mrs. Yerrick passed away in May 1925.

Some 18 months ago Mr. Yerrick had a stroke of paralysis and since then he has been a patient sufferer, death releasing him on Friday morning t 9:30 o’clock.

He leaves his daughter, Mrs. Ida Burge, her husband and three daughters, Zela and Ina at home and Mrs. M. Culbertson of St. Ansgar, Iowa. Also five sisters, Mrs. Amelia Bedell, Mrs. Eliza Chamberlain and Mrs. Mary Comstock of Marble Rock, Mrs. Larvina Larcher of Chicago, and Mrs. Melva Masters of Joplin, Montana. His son Ivan, his brother Adam and a sister, Mrs. Sophie Berry, preceded him in death.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist church at Marble Rock Sunday afternoon, the sermon being preached by Rev. Caul. Beautiful selections wre sung by Mesdams Charles Moore and W. O Wilson. Interment was in the Hill Side Cemetery here.

Marble Rock friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
