Hermina (Hermena) Paulson was born on March 15, 1890 at rural Floyd, Iowa to Gjert Knutsen Paulson and Randi Anna Pedersdatter Framstad, the youngest of their three children.

Since her mother died when she was very young, she was raised with her cousins in the John Ellef Gunderson family, first in Clermont, Iowa and then in Driscoll, North Dakota.

Found in the 1900 census living at Clermont, Fayette, Iowa: John Gunderson 43, Herbie Gunderson 36, Ellen G Gunderson 16, Cora H Gunderson 15, Minna A Gunderson 13, Elmer E Gunderson 11, Bertha K Gunderson 9, Kundt O Gunderson 6, John H Gunderson 4, Huld L Gunderson 1, Hermina Paulson 10, Julius Anderson 16.

The family moved to North Dakota to homestead.

Hermina married Henry Espeseth (1888-1957) on March 1, 1913 at Bismarck, Burleigh, North Dakota.

The couple had 10 children:

Hermina Espeseth died on January 21, 1957 at Crosby, Divide, North Dakota and was buried at the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery at Crosby, Divide, North Dakota.
