Sarah Elizabeth (Jarnagin) Mains – September 9, 1864 – June 14, 1943

MRS. JOHN A. MAINS, 79, IS BURIED WEDNESDAY

Nora Springs – Mrs. John Mains died at her home here about 4:30 Monday afternoon, following several months’ illness. Funeral services were held at the Sheckler Funeral Home in Nora Springs Wednesday afternoon, with burial in Park Cemetery.

Sarah Elizabeth Jarnagin, daughter of Wesley and Katherine Jarnagin, was born near Otley, Marion County, Iowa, on September 9, 1864. She was 79 years, 8 months and 14 days of age.

She was married to John A. Mains in July, 1887. To this union six children were born. Two sons, George and Gerald, and one daughter, Thata preceded their mother in death.

Surviving are her husband, John A. Mains; a son, Fred of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. E. L. Eldredge of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Bessie Beard of Nora Springs.

There are also eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one brother, George Jarnagin, of Prairie City.
