Johann George Kuehnle – October 14, 1861 – May 25, 1930

NORA SPRINGS MAN IS DEAD AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS WITH CANCER

Nora Springs – May 27th – George Kuehnle died at his home Sunday night after a lingering illness with cancer.

He leaves his wife and one son, Bert Kuehnle of Waterloo and six step-children, three sons and three daughters.

Funeral arrangements have not been made yet as word has not been received yet from relatives at a distance.

KUEHNLE RITES HELD IN N.S.
PIONEER RAILROAD MAN IN FLOYD COUNTY BURIED NEAR HOME

Nora Springs, May 28 – Funeral services were conducted for George Kuehnle Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church, the Rev. H. A. Crumb officiating.

Mr. Kuehnle was born in Baden, Germany, October 14, 1861 and came to the United States in 1875, settling in East Dubuque and in 1881 moved to Earlville.

In 1895 he was married to Mrs. Lena Schnabel. To this union two children were born, Bert and Roe. He moved to Nora Springs in 1911, where he resided until his death at his home here May 25 after a lingering illness.

Many years ago he united with the Evangelical church, but for the past 24 years has been a member of the Methodist church.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekahs, and of the Modern Woodmen. He was an employee of the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific railroad for 30 years and retired on a pension three years ago.

He leaves his wife and son, Bert, Roe having preceded him in death eight years ago. Stepchildren are Mrs. Anna Batterson, Mason City; John Schnabel, Hampton; Charles, Waterloo; Mrs. Lena Misko, Ord, Nebraska.

His wife was Lena (Hecklinger) Schnabel Kuehnle. She was the daughter of George and Anna Mary Hecklinger. Her first husband was John Schnabel.
