FORMER STUDENT AT JUNIOR COLLEGE IS BURIED AT NORA SPRINGS

Nora Springs, April 4 – Funeral services for Charles Edgar Garman were held this afternoon at the Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. H. A. Crumb. Burial was at Rock Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Garman, youngest son of Charles E., and Blanche Garman, was born at Nora Springs July 9, 1910, where he grew up. He early became interested in the Boy Scout activities and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was an active member of athletic teams during his high school days.

Edgar was graduated from the Nora Springs High School in 1928 as its valedictorian. He attended junior college at Mason City two years and in the fall of 1930 entered the University of Iowa only to be compelled to come home to submit to an operation for appendicitis. From this he recovered and returned to Iowa City for the second semester in February 1931. He was pledged to Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.

Contracting an illness which culminated in pneumonia, he was sick only about a week and was taken to the Mercy Hospital at Iowa City. He died Wednesday.

He is survived by his father and mother, his grandfather, the Rev. T. H. Sheckler of Waterloo, his brother, Harry J Garman, and airmail pilot in Guatemala City, and his young sister Betty.
