She received her education in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1950. Norma was united in marriage to Rodger Jaeger on December 31, 1950 at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in rural Charles City and began raising their family. Norma was very proud to be a farm wife and work at her husband's side.

She also worked as a ward clerk at Floyd County Medical Center. With the encouragement of nurses at the hospital, Norma attended NIACC and graduated in 1975 as an LPN. She worked at Floyd County Medical Center, Salsbury Baptist Home and both 9th and 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Homes for many years. Norma was chosen as the Iowa Extended Care Nurse of the year in 2005.

Norma was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, helped organize Christian Ones, helped organize Road to Recovery in Charles City, was a member of the Welcome Club and taught Little Red Schoolhouse at local nursing homes. She enjoyed going on bus trips, traveling, shopping, cooking, flower gardening, working crossword puzzles and playing 500. Norma loved spending time with her family and sharing life's experiences with them.

Living family members include her children: Judy (Clifford) Kelly of Charles City, Janet (Dennis) Petefish of Charles City, Brian (Penny) Jaeger of Marion, IN and David Bledsoe of Charles City; 12 grandchildren: Andrew (Jennifer) Kelly, Aaron (Katie) Kelly, Anne Lappe, Lynne (Stacy) Wilkens, Dan (Erin) Petefish, Joshua (Donna) Jaeger, Matthew (Jessica) Jaeger, Mark Jaeger, Katelyn Bledsoe, Jesse Jaeger, Laura Jaeger and Ali (Michael) O'Donnell; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Sharon) Bledsoe; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodger in 1981; and a special friend, Dave Turner.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to them in order to establish a nursing scholarship in Norma's name and/or Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
