Eunice Ann Dell, 59, of 203 Candlewick Road, died suddenly Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Allen Hospital, of natural causes.

She was born April 21, 1949, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Lucille DeBower Prange. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1968. She had been enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa, where she graduated with a major in accounting. She also received an M.B.A. from the university as well. In 1977 she began working for UNI, where she served in several positions including budget director, assistant vice president and interim vice president in the area of finance. At the time of her death, she held the position of assistant vice president-faculty and staff disability coordinator and MEMPHIS project manager.

While attending UNI, she also met Sammie Lee Dell, who would become her loving and supportive husband of 25 years until his death in 1997.

Eunice was active in many community organizations to include the Cedar Falls Chapter of the American Association of University Women, KBBG Public Radio Station in Waterloo, the Panther Alumni and Scholarship Club and Girl Scouts of America, where she was a "Lifetime Girl Scout."

Eunice's strong Christian faith was reflected in her warm and friendly smile, her willingness to help and her dedication to making the world a better place. Her membership at Antioch Baptist Church helped sustain her through some very difficult times.

Eunice is survived by her father, Clarence Prange of Charles City; a daughter, Martha Rose Dell of Waterloo; a son, Joshua David (Suzzanna) Dell of Waterloo; a sister, Mavis Prange of Eden Prairie, Minn.; three granddaughters, Teionna Hanna, Breanna Branch and Samaria Dell; and her mother-in-law, Rosie Lee Sanders of Waterloo.

In addition to her husband, Sammie, Eunice was preceded in death by her mother, her father-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, Waterloo, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Baptist, with community tributes from 6 to 7 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or to the family for the previously established Sammie L. Dell Scholarship Fund for minority students at both Hawkeye Community College and the University of Northern Iowa.
