Marjorie Lockhart, 101, of Charles City, died Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

No funeral services are planned at this time.

Marjorie Isabel Merrick Lockhart was born September 23, 1913, at Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Hubert and Ora (Riggins) Merrick. She was raised on a farm near Dougherty and came to Charles City as a young woman to attend High School and later work as a Deputy Recorder at the Floyd County Court House. On October 15, 1938, she was united in marriage to Robert Lockhart. They were married for 65 years. She was active in her church and community. Always there with a helping hand and often done quietly without fanfare. She will be greatly missed.

Living family members include three daughters, Sharon (Robert) Schmiedel, Lynne (Scott) Gabel and Susan (James) Greathouse; three grandchildren, David Gabel, Hilary Jendras and Daniel Schmiedel; and three great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Isabel and Jackson Gabel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carol Jean; a grandson, Joseph Schmiedel; and three brothers, Charles, Hollis and Merlin Merrick.
