MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - P. Leon Ogilvie, 84, of rural Marble Rock, died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 12, at Faith Baptist Church, 1807 S. Kentucky Ave., Mason City. Officiating will be Pastor David Callison of Faith Baptist Church in Mason City, and Pastor Benjamin Hartwig of Calvary Baptist Church in Greene. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, following a lunch at the church.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - P. Leon Ogilvie, age 84, of rural Marble Rock, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 12, at Faith Baptist Church, 1807 S Kentucky Ave., Mason City. Officiating will be Pastor David Callison of Faith Baptist Church in Mason City and Pastor Benjamin Hartwig of Calvary Baptist Church in Greene. Interment will follow a lunch at the church, in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

Leon was born in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, the son of Percy and Pearl Ogilvie. He grew up on a small dairy farm and graduated from Balsam Lake High School in 1949. In the fall of 1951, he was drafted by the United States Army to serve our country in the Korean War where he was shot, recovering in a Japanese hospital for two months before coming home. He received the Purple Heart for his injuries and was honorably discharged. He continued his education at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, with a degree in auto body work.

On August 10, 1957, Leon was married to Katherine Knoop at the Rockford Methodist Church. To this union were born four children: Greg, LeAnn, Linda and Lisa. Leon was a self-employed farmer and owner/operator of an auto body shop.

Hobbies and interests included traveling with his family around the country, raising and driving Arabian horses, restoring and owning antique automobiles which included a 1944 Ford Coupe and a Model T which is still driven in this area, and serving God faithfully in his local church. He served as a deacon, church clerk, and Sunday school teacher and traveled on missionary trips with the church youth group. Leon was a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Greene for many years, then Faith Baptist Church in Mason City from 1984 to the present.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Kathy Ogilvie; children, Greg Ogilvie of Ames; LeAnn Ogilvie of Oakdale, Minnesota; Linda (Michael) Beltran of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Lisa (Brad) Franklin of Marble Rock; grandchildren: Caleb Franklin of Rockford; Andrew Franklin, Josiah Franklin, Luke Franklin, and Micah Franklin, all of Marble Rock; siblings: Lois Ogilvie of Roseville, Minnesota; Guy (Ardis) Ogilvie of Mount Pleasant; and Don (Cindy) Ogilvie of Motley, Minnesota; six nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents.
