William R. Barr

William R. Barr, 77, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on November 24, 2014, at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.

William R. Barr (Bill) was born January 2, 1937 in Nashua, Iowa. Later, the family moved to Charles City, where Bill attended Lincoln School and graduated from Charles City High School in 1956. After graduating, Bill joined the Air Force and was stationed in Labrador. Bill then moved to Orlando, Florida, where he married Joyce Ensinger, which ended in divorce, and lived there until his death.

While in high school, he was on the wrestling team until breaking his leg in two places, therefore having to give it up. He loved karaoke and made several CD’s for friends and family. Bill never forgot his hometown and would try to come back for a visit once a year.

Bill is survived by former wife, Joyce; a daughter and son-in-law: Sherri and Save Salisbury of Cocoa Beach, Florida; and a son, Tony, of Orlando, Florida. Also surviving are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; special friend Nona Cummings of Charles City; one sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Dale Schmidt of Charles City; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mabel Barr of Charles City; sisters, Rowena McBride; and Roberta Buttjer of Charles City.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
