Bev Slinger - Marble Rock --
Funeral Services for Beverly LaVerne Slinger, 80, of Marble Rock will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Walter F. Bohl Community Center in Marble Rock. A visitation will precede the service starting at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Joe Prainito will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date. Bev was cremated at her request.
Beverly LaVerne Wood was born on February 20, 1934, west of Clarksville on her grandparents’ farm. She attended public school graduating from Marble Rock High School in 1951. Notably she was Band Queen Candidate for the Band Fest and Drum Majorette for the Marble Rock Rocket- Rockettes. Following graduation she moved to Waverly and worked for Lutheran Mutual until she married.
Bev was united in marriage to Dale Glenn Slinger on June 8, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City. The marriage was blessed with two children. Bev moved various times throughout her life but remained steadfast in the Lutheran faith attending her local church.
Bev was a member of the Marble Rock Auxiliary and the Mason City Moose.
She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafts, playing cards, bowling, cooking, and baking. Most of all she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Bev is survived by her daughter Rhonda (Jon) Sult, Marble Rock; grandchildren: Dena (Joe) Prainito, Fontana, California; Dustin (Mary Ann) Sult, Marion; great-grandchildren: Juliet and Gavin Prainito; one sister, Judy (Curt) Wallace, Charles City; one sister-in-law, Marlene Holthaus, Charles City; three nieces and five nephews; many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 1987; son, David in 1982, and her parents.
