GREENE,IOWA - Funeral services for Larry Dale Ott Sr., 59, of Greene, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, with Pastor Gary Hatcher officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St., Greene, where a prayer service was held at 7 p.m.

Larry Ott was born on December 31, 1954, in St. Lucas, Iowa, the youngest son of Oscar Bernard and Thelca Lorraine (Wenthold) Ott and passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Larry attended Rockford High School and farmed for Leo Martzahn in Dougherty for 11 years. He continued his interest in farming, working for Drew Rogers Farming and Hog Operations for the next 28 years. Larry retired due to declining health.

He enjoyed NASCAR, playing cards especially Solitaire, and liked to work on anything with a motor. Larry was a quiet man, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Larry was especially fond of family gatherings, where he could be found spending time with the children.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene.

Living family members include his loving wife of 40 years, Deb; his children and their families: Kaye (Tim) Blong, Tyler and Courtney; Shane Ott (special friend, Rachel), McKennah, Kaleb and Logan; Larry (Kristin) Ott, Natasha, Karson, Jaxson, Eian, and baby on the way; Crystal (special friend Chris) Ott, Wesley, Macabe, Colton, Maddie; many nieces and nephews; eight siblings: Joyce (Jim) Foth, Jerry (Mary) Ott, Richard (Linda) Ott, Phyllis (Bill) Ritter, Dean (Ann) Ott, Sheri (Bernie) Larson, Sally Vanhooser, and Cindy (Rob) Scott; and the Select Specialty Hospital Staff in Des Moines.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; Pat Vanhooser, brother-in-law; Jamie Ott, nephew; Lee Hughes, father-in-law; Thomas Hughes, brother-in-law.
