ERVIN, HILLERT, MCLAUGHLIN, BOEHLJE, JACOBSON, JANSSEN

Memorial services were held on January 16, 1983 at the United Methodist church in Stuart, Florida, for a former area resident, Ruth Ervin, who died at age 68 from cancer.

Mrs. Ervin was born on March 30, 1914, the daughter of John and Susan Jacobson. She grew up in the Floyd vicinity where she graduated form high school. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1934 and taught in a rural school near her home. She was united in marriage to Paul Ervin on June 8, 1935, and they lived on a farm near Floyd with her mother until 1940 when they moved to Charles City. She worked as an administrator and craft director at the Salisbury Nursing Home in Charles City prior to the couple's retirement in Florida in 1979.

Mrs. Ervin is the youngest sister of Mrs. Velma Warnholz of Osage and is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Dewey Hillert of Charles City and four children, Laura Mae McLaughlin of Iowa City, Paula Boehlje and Dr. David Ervin of Pella and Bruce Ervin of Stuart, Florida. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews in Osage, Floyd, Rudd and Charles City area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Theron Jacobson of Floyd and two sisters, Maude Allen of Floyd and Alice Janssen of Rudd.
