Manager of Standard Nut Company is Stricken Suddenly

William B. Nauman, 61, 511 Second Street, manager of the Standard Nut Company, and a native of Waterloo, died suddenly of angina pectoris at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He had been active in business right up to the day of his death.

From 1899 to 1911 he was secretary of the Nauman Company, and since then had been proprietor and manager of the Northern Chemical Company, and the Standard Nut Company, 218½ Fourth Street West. Except for a few years' residence at Charles City, he had lived in Waterloo all his life.

William Bismark Nauman was born June 1, 1871, the son of Henry and Rosanna (Hiller) Nauman, both pioneer residents of Waterloo. Both were natives of Germany, but came to Waterloo in 1858 and were married here the same year. Henry Nauman was one of the founders of the Nauman Company.

William Nauman attended the Waterloo West High School and was graduated from the pharmacy course at the University of Iowa.

He was employed by the Forry Drug Company and the Joder Drug Company in Waterloo, and was associated with a pharmacy at Charles City for a time.

On September 14, 1897, at Charles City, he married Miss Grace McNaughton. They came to Waterloo to live soon afterward.

Surviving besides his widow are one brother, George Nauman, 136 Gates Street, president of the Nauman Company; two sons, Graydon C., Chicago and James, a student at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland; and one granddaughter, Susanne Nauman, Chicago.

Both parents, two brothers, Charles and Frank, and one sister, Anna preceded him in death.

Mr. Nauman was a deacon and active member of First Congregational Church. He was also a member of Waterloo lodge No. 105, A. F. & A. M., having first affilliated with the Masonic order at Charles City in 1897.

The body was taken to O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church by Rev. J. Richmond Morgan, pastor. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
