NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Arlene M. Alitz, 96, of Nora Springs, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Tom Dettmer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 24, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Memorials may be directed to the Arlene Alitz Memorial Fund in care of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .

Arlene M. Alitz, 96, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Nora Springs Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Tom Dettmer officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Arlene Alitz memorial fund in care of the family.

Arlene M. Pettey was born May 17, 1918, in Mason City, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Larwell) Pettey. She married the love of her life and best friend, Clifford Alitz, on January 29, 1947, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Clifford and Arlene rode in the 2012 Nora Springs Buffalo Days Parade as King and Queen of the Nora Springs Care Center. Arlene enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her roses, golfing and bowling.

Arlene is survived by her son: Jack Risacher and wife Nancy of Massachusetts and their family; grandchildren: Bruce Hugo and wife Leslie of Sandy, UT and Julie Hugo-Sumpter and husband Scott of Ankeny, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2012; 1 daughter: Nancy Hugo and husband Gunther. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
