Esther Ruth Hurst

Funeral services for Esther R. Hurst of Charles City, Iowa, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 1996, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home in Charles City. Mr. Richard Tector of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Charles City will officiate. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

She died Friday, November 8, 1996, at Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City following a lengthy illness.

Esther Ruth Hurst was born November 30, 1911, in rural Garwin, Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry J. and Dorthea C. (Shady) Gronwoldt. In 1916 the family moved to rural Lime Springs and then to rural Alta Vista in 1917. She attended school at the Howard County Afton #10 Country School.

On December 15, 1957, she married Harold Hurst.

She was a cook at the former Castle Club. She was also a housekeeper for many different families. She was a member of the Charles City Congregation of the Kindom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by 6 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Norma Bill of Alta Vista; Mrs. Edna Sir of Elma; Walter Gronwoldt of Charles City; Vern Gronwoldt and Marvin Gronwoldt, both of Riceville; and Mrs. Alice Ross of Elma.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Leonard Gronwoldt; and two sisters, Rose and Dorthea Gronwoldt.
