IOWA DEATHS

Charles City - Funeral services were Tuesday at S. John’s Lutheran church for Mrs. Bertha Manning, 83, who died Friday night at the home of her son, John Manning, near Bassett. Mrs. Manning had been staying there for several months; burial in Riverside cemetery; lived here from 1936, residing at 1002 Kelly street, until a year ago, when she suffered a broken leg in a fall; after that she resided with her two sons, Edward and John Manning, both of near Bassett; had been a resident of the Bassett and Charles City community for 73 years; born Mar. 31, 1867, in Germany, and came to this country in 1877; was the daughter of Henry and Henrietta (Schonfeld) Krumrey.

She married Henry Manning Dec. 2, 1886, near Bassett; husband preceded her in death in 1934; was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid of the same church; leaves two sons; two sisters, Mrs. Gusta Meyers, Charles City and Mrs. Will F. Ebert, St. Croix Falls, Wis., a brother, Henry Krumrey, Miami, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; one son, George, was killed by lightning in 1920.

Found in 1940 census living in ward 2 of Charles City; age 73 and a widow.
