J.C. Schofield succumbs to heart attack

CHARLES CITY – John C. Scofield, 36, died of a heart attack Monday while installing a water softener. He was employed by the Inland Marine Company, Milwaukee.

Son of J.I. and Lois Campbell Scofield, he was born in Charles City Nov. 7, 1925. He was graduated from Charles City High School in 1943 and was a member of the Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. He was married to Helen Ritter April 15, 1951.

Surviving are his wife, four children, Jolene, 10; John Jr., 8; Joy, 4 ½; Jane, 9 months; his mother and a brother, James, McNeal, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
