Elizabeth Schmidtke dies at Charles City; Rites Wednesday

CHARLES CITY – Mrs. Elizabeth Schmidtke, 81, died Sunday at the Cedar Valley Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ray Dugan, Floyd; five grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.

Rites Today for Elizabeth Schmidtke

Mrs. Elizabeth Schmidtke, 81, passed away early Sunday morning at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City of a heart attack. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ray Dugan, of Floyd.

Mrs. Schmidtke was born in Chickasaw County on December 17, 1881, the daughter of Henry and Mary Schafer and she received her education in the rural schools in Floyd County. She married Ed Schmidtke on February, 27, 1912, in Charles City.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Ray Dugan, of Floyd; five grandchildren; two brothers, George Schafer and Otto Schafer of Green; and three sisters, Mrs. Christina Kiehn and Mrs. Clara Lines of Marble Rock and Mrs. Ed Lines of Rockford.

Her parents, husband and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon, Wednesday, at 1:30, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City with Rev. Werner A. Bischoff, pastor, officiating. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
