CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Henry “Jim” Lore, 88, of Charles City died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Graveside services for Jim Lore will be private.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.

The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Henry "Lee" Lore

Death: August 31, 2014

Henry James "Jim" Lore, 88, of Charles City, died Sunday, August 31, 2014, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Graveside services will be private.

Henry James Lore was born August 21, 1926, in Butler County, the son of Eugene and Lila (Hoffman) Lore. He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, Wash. At the age of 17, Jim entered the United States Navy and proudly served during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

On July 3, 1953, he was united in marriage to Leona Obermeier. For more than 40 years he was employed with Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company and farmed 60 acres northeast of Charles City. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge.

His interests included gardening, camping and playing the slots. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Jim was very family-oriented and enjoyed sharing life's experiences with his children and their families, especially at holiday time and other celebrations.

Living family members include three children, Dale Danielson of Floyd, Shereen (Steve) Kos of Silverthorne, Colorado, and Randy Lore of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Dave (Michele) Danielson, Kelly (Jedd) Moore, Lyndsey (Jeremy) Burmeister, Jordan (Brian) Lewton, and Taylor Lore and six great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona, on October 30, 1994; three brothers, Marvin, Clayton and Robert "Bob" Lore; sister, Lilagene Hendrickson; and daughter-in-law, Sharon "Cherie" Danielson.
