OBITUARY--

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Barbara "Barb" Ann Osborn, 73, of Charles City died on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Floyd County Medical Center.

Online condolences may be left at www.fullertonfh.com.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. with a one hour prior visitation on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. The Rev. Jim Beranek of Trinity United Methodist Church will be officiating.

Barbara Ann was born on January 22, 1941, in Charles City to Lynn Brady and Hulda Slezak. She grew up in Charles City and attended Charles City schools. At a young age, Barb met the love of her life, Gary Osborn. They were childhood friends, living only a block away from each and through the years their love continued to grow.

On June 12, 1965, they were united in marriage at the First Methodist Church in Charles City. Together they resided in Charles City and raised three children. Barb worked for several places during her life, including: Allied Redi Mix, Coach House, Hy-Vee Drug Town, and the Dollar Store. Throughout her life, Barb had a very close relationship with her sister, Polly. They spent a lot of time together in their childhood and adult life.

In her free time she loved spending time with her family. Barb, Gary, and their children took trips every summer. They traveled to Florida, Chicago, Georgia, St. Louis, and Atlanta visiting amusement parks such as Six Flags and Disney World. Barb and Gary traveled together from the East Coast to the West Coast. Her favorite vacation was enjoying the beaches of Hawaii. Barb and Gary took the children camping and attended all of their sporting events, even if she didn't quite understand the sports. The tradition of attending every sporting event carried over to her grandsons’ events as well, making sure to never miss a Friday night football game. Barb was the most sharing and thoughtful person you could ever meet. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant everything to her. She loved them dearly and she looked forward to each opportunity to see them.

Barb will be remembered by her family and friends as a very giving person. Every Christmas was special to Barb, she enjoyed wrapping gifts for others to enjoy. She loved dancing to 50s and 60s music or sitting and visiting with friends and loved ones; she enjoyed sunbathing, tending to her flowers, biking, and bargain hunting at rummage sales.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gary Osborn of Charles City; children, Charles William "Chuck" (Teresa) Osborn of Elgin, Minnesota, Sharon (Kreg) Swedeen of Dalton, Minnesota, and Jamie (Kelly) Osborn of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Joshua and Mathew Osborn, great-grandchildren, Caden and Quinn Osborn; sisters, Betty Spurbeck, Pauline "Polly" Bathke, Gerri Eiring, and Donna (Jerry Berry) Hackbarth; brother, James "Jimmy" (Jeri) Ziebarth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hulda Slezak; step-father, Myron Ziebarth; brother, Robert "Bob" Brady; grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Osborn; and brother-in-laws, Henry "Hank" Bathke and Clayton Spurbeck.
