At thirty years of age he came to America where he was united in marriage the same year to Miss Barbara Lenhoff. He was taken ill the fore part of November and gradually failed until the end came peacefully Saturday.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:00 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church at Roseville. Solemn requiem high mass was celebrated with Father Jekel of Roseville, Father Malone of Rockford and Father Hogan of Greene officiating after which the mortal remains of Carl Reis where taken to St. Mary's cemetery, borne there by six of his grandsons, Louis Staudt, Louis Reis, Carl Gerhardt, Carl Heinz, Oscar Wolf and Donald Haggerty.
