Greene Iowa Recorder, Greene, Iowa January 12, 1916

The funeral of the late Robert Barr was held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. church. It was the largest funeral held here for some time and was in charge of the Modern Woodmen of America of which order Mr. Barr was a charter member. The flowers were ever more beautiful and were there to speak their lesson of hope and sympathy.

After the reading of the scripture and prayer by the pastor. Rev,. Lusk, an address was given by Rev. Loren Inman. Appropriate selections were rendered by a quartette choir consisting of Miss Leilah Gates. Mrs. Geo. Barber, Mrs. Willard Bucklen and Mr. Harry Ackley. The pall bearers were: Dr. C.J. O'Keefe, Ed Garber, Julius Heft, Will Wilson, Harry Inman and Lon Wilson.

A large number of Woodmen were present, not only from the home lodge, but also from neighboring towns. Mr. Barr became a charter member in 1897, and during the nineteen years only three have been called by death. The two preceding Mr. Barr were neighbors Stephen Kinney and L. Inman.

Mr. Barr was born at Melugin's Grove 59 years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, one son, John of this place, one daughter, Mrs. Arlie Cates of Charles City, seven grandchildren--the two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Cates and four daughters and one son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Barr--besides 2 brothers, James Barr of this place and William Barr of Oklahoma, four sisters, one being Mrs. Miles Marsh of Greene, besides a host of friends, who will miss genial friendship and his many neighborly acts of kindness.
