Marble Rock Journal, Marble Rock, Iowa June 26, 1903Susan Behenna, wife of James Pascoe, was born in Austell, Cornwall, England, April 4th, 1840, and died in Marble Rock, Iowa, June 17th, 1903, aged 57 years, 2 months and 13 days.
She came to the United States in 18?? and made her home with an uncle in Detroit, Michigan. In 1872 she was married to James Pascoe at Marquette, Michigan. They then commenced housekeeping in Humo?, Mich., were they remained for three years, and then moved to Champion where they resided for eleven years. They then came to Marble Rock, Iowa, making this place their home for nearly eighteen years. A husband and four children remain to mourn the loss of a dear wife and mother.
Her parents were members of the Wesleyan Methodist church and in very early life she gave herself to God and commenced a Christian life. She brought her church letter with her when she came to this county and untied with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she has been a member to the hour of her departure to the church triumphant which is without fault before the throne of God. She was one of the most faithful in her attendance at the prayer meeting and church service. She was exceeding liberal in her support of the church and her benevolent work. She will be greatly missed in the church as well as in her home Awaking from a sound sleep, she was stricken with heart failure and passed away in a few minutes. Conscious to the last she went home with prayer on her lips. Our loss is great, but with her it is eternal gain.
The church was beautifully decorated on the occasion of the funeral which was attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends in addition to the relatives of the departed. Services were held at the M.E. Church Friday afternoon, Rev. D. Sheffer officiating.
