DENVER, IOWA - Henrietta Mable "Etta" Kuehne, 107, of Denver, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at the Denver Sunset Home.

She was born February 14, 1898, on the family farm south of Charles City, daughter of Amos and Rocelia Kuhkan Jacobs. She married Kurd Henry Kuehne on February 16, 1916, at the family's home southwest of Nashua. He died on October 15, 1979.

Mrs. Kuehne and her husband farmed for many years on the Kuehne home place south of Powersville. After moving to Greene she worked as a nurses aide and midwife. They continued to farm through the 1940s. The couple later bought the filling station on the south edge of Plainfield, which they owned and operated for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Irene Nelson of Waverly; a son, Melvin of Tripoli; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Adeline Schuett and Velma Allen; and a son-in-law, Clifford Nelson.

Services: were 11 a.m. Saturday at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua.

Memorials may be directed to the family in care of her granddaughter, Judy Covey, 2511 Ridgetop Road, Ames 50014.
