Lola Mae Nelson, age 94, of Osage, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor David A. Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne J. Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Lola was born November 17, 1919 on the family farm in Floyd County, the daughter of Clarence and Katie (Hill) Barrett. She received her education in country school and at the Orchard public school.

Lola was united in marriage to Obert E. Nelson on June 10, 1936, at the Barrett family home. They farmed in Floyd County. Obert was a saddle, leather and western wear salesman. They owned and operated a saddle shop on their farm. They belonged to a saddle club group and went horseback riding on trails. They moved to Osage in 1966. They enjoyed many fishing trips to Minnesota with friends and trips to Texas and Arizona.

She was devout member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa, where she served the church in various capacities. Lola was baptized by Rev. O.C. Myhre. She attended church regularly and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lola is survived by her two granddaughters, Shawna Servantez of Osage and Angela (Jeffrey) Wilson of Iowa City; her three great-grandchildren, Chelsey (Kurt Krohmer) Germundson of Elizabeth, Illinois, Garet (Samantha Smith) Germundson of Mason City and Greysen Germundson of Mason City; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Nelson of Mountain Home, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews;

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joyce in 1954; husband, Obert on November 6, 2002; son, Gary on March 22, 2014 and a brother, Howard Barrett.
