NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Ronald Dean Smith, 70, Hampton, formerly of Nora Springs, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Hampton Care Center.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Rock Grove Cemetery, rural Nora Springs.

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Ronald Dean Smith, 70, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Hampton Rehab Center in Hampton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday June 26, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday June 27, 2014, at the Rock Grove Cemetery, rural Nora Springs, with Pastor Art Zewert officiating.

Those who would like to give a memorial in his memory may wish to consider a contribution to Hospice of North Iowa or the Hampton Rehab Center.

Ronald Dean Smith was born August 14, 1943, son of John "Bud” and Doris Smith. The eldest of five children, he was raised in Nora Springs, Iowa. After graduating from Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School, Ron entered the Air Force and then worked for the railroad until he retired in 1997.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Annie Smith of Nora Springs, his sister Jae Lea (Gary) True of Osage, brothers, Randy (Candy) Smith of Nora Springs, Terry (Shari) Smith of Cottonwood, Ariz., and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Agnes Smith, maternal grandparents, Oliver and Lottie Hagen, parents John "Bud" and Doris Smith and brother Mike Smith.
