CHARLES CITY DeWayne Shrader, 71, of Charles City, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate.

Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the service.

DeWayne Olive Shrader was born April 23, 1943, at Charles City, the son of Wayne and Leona (Streich) Shrader. He graduated from Charles City High School. On June 10, 1961 he was united in marriage to Linda Kilby. Over the years DeWayne worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company, drove school bus and was warehouse foreman for McGregors Furniture. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. DeWayne enjoyed raising a garden as well as small game. He spent time watching western movies and listening to country music. He was an accomplished craftsman and woodworker. Above all DeWayne's talents, his greatest accomplishments and treasures was his family. He adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered as the best husband, father and grandfather ever.

Living family members include his wife of 52 years, Linda of Charles City; four children, Deb (Hondo) Shaver of Woodbridge, Va., Rod (Sandra) Shrader of Las Vegas, Nev., Steve (Johnna) Shrader of Mason City and Gary (Robin) Shrader of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren, Hondo (Caitlin) Shaver, Renn (Jessica) Shaver, Randi (Jeff) Nelson, Megan Shrader, Amber Miller, Abbey (Warren) Untalan, Brendon (Kathryn) Shrader, Auston Shrader, Ashton Shrader, Morgan Shrader, Miranda Shrader and Mercedes Hutchens; six great grandchildren, Alyssa Shrader, Shaelynn, MaKayla and Tierney Nelson and Logan and Leila Untalan; two sisters, Darlene (William) Linn of Charles City and Rita (Dennis) Solvie of West Saint Paul, Minn.; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy, Gary Shrader; mother and father-in-law, Vivian and Raymond Kilby; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie and Gilbert Kilby; and two sisters-in-law, Bernadine Beasley and Nancy Hedrick.
