CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Joyce Crowe, 98, of Charles City, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Cedar Health Nursing Home in Charles City.

Funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, June 25, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. The Rev. Forrest from First Congregational Church in Charles City will be officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 with a two hour prior visitation at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. Reverend Forrest from First Congregational Church in Charles City will be officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Joyce Crowe was born on September 27, 1915, in Charles City to Mark and Ida (Kiess) Bird. She has resided in Charles City for most of her life.

On February 14, 1941, Joyce was united in marriage to Vincent Crowe. To this union one son (Wayne) was born. Joyce worked at Salisbury Labs and then later worked as a private book keeper and secretary. She was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also activity with the local Historical Society and Senior Citizens groups. She was very interested in and proud of the history of Charles City.

In her free time she enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage, and other card games. She also liked cross word puzzles, but her favorite hobby was working on family genealogy. Joyce was a story teller. She often looked through pictures and told many stories to her family and friends.

She was a social person but definitely had a very dry sense of humor and witty personality. Over the years, Joyce kept every letter of correspondence she had with anyone. She enjoyed using her type writer for work and personal letters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter-in-law, Jan Crowe of Pocahontas, Iowa; grandchildren, John (Janessa) Crowe of California, Bob Crowe of Pocahontas, Teresa Crowe of Kansas, Paul (Lindsay) Crowe of Roland, Iowa; and Scott Crowe of Fairfield, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Kendra Marie Crowe, Olivia Scarlett Crowe, and Elijah Wayne Crowe; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, and son, Wayne Crowe.
