Hold Rites Wednesday for Aged Farm Woman
Charles City - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Methodist church for Mrs. Gottlieb Uetz, 76, who died at 8:30 a.m. Monday at her farm home 2 miles west of Charles City on highway 14. The Rev. H.F. Mercer will officiate and burial will be in the West St. Charles cemetery. Friends may call at the Hauser funeral home until 11 a.m. Wednesday. She had been in failing health for about 10 years and became suddenly worse Sunday morning.
A lifelong resident of Floyd county, she was the daughter of George and Eliza Schlung Schmidt and was born in St. Charles township, Oct. 23, 1873. Mrs. Uetz died on her 38th wedding anniversary having been married to Gottlieb Uetz, March 13, 1912. She was a member of the Central Methodist church.
Survivors include her husband, 2 sons and 2 daughters, the sons being Ernest Uetz, who lives on the farm 2 miles west of Charles City, and Elmer Uetz, Charles City. The daughters are Mrs. Marie Ross, Charles City, and Mrs. Martha Davis, Mason City. Also a sister, Mrs. Hanna Hertel, San Francisco, Cal., and a brother, Ernie Schmidt, St. Charles township and 12 grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death.
