William Harmon O’Harrow.. October 25, 1871 – May 14, 1951

MEMORIAL ON SUNDAY FOR W. O’HARROW

Memorial services for Will O’Harrow, formerly of Mason City who died Monday at Turlock, California will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Methodist Church, Mason City with Doctor Lloyd A Gustafson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roger Russell.

He was a brother of Jennie Fullerton and Mary and Pearl O’Harrow, of Mason City, and Fred O’Harrow of Rockford, Iowa. All relatives and friends of Mr. O’Harrow have been invited to be present.

Funeral services and burial will be at Turlock Thursday.

Will O’Harrow, son of Robert and Sarah O’Harrow, was the first child of a family of 11 to be born on the home farm in Owen Township where he lived until he purchased a farm and later married Millie Brockway of Owen Township.

Three Daughters Vera Reynolds, Taylorsville, Kentucky, Grace Fyler, Arroyo, Grande, California and Lela Rommell, Santa Cruz, California were born to this union.

In 1919, Mr. O’Harrow purchased the home now known as the Wass Nursing home in Mason City, moving his family here. His wife, Millie, died March 17, 1920. With his 3 daughters he moved to Livingston, California, that fall.

Mr. O’Harrow married Maude Higgins in 1922 and continued to live in Livingston for a time. Later he purchased a home in Turlock, where his wife now resides.

He is also survived by two brothers and 5 sisters, Clifford, 93, eldest in the family, lives with his daughter, Ethel Peters on a ranch near Portland, Oregon; Fred youngest of the family, lives at Rockford; Ella Rood, Mankato, Minnesota, Jennie Fullerton, 212 Penn. SE; Maude Ann, New York City; and Mary and Pearl O’Harrow, 324 2nd N.E., also survive.

Mr. O’Harrow was the son of Robert and Sarah O’Harrow, pioneers who moved to the farm in Owen township in 1870 by covered wagon from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

He was born on the Owen Township farm October 25, 1871. This farm is still owned by the family.
