NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Richard A. “Dick” Havey, 88, Nora Springs, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.

#2:NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Richard A. “Dick” Havey, 88, Nora Springs, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Epiphany Parish-St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Neil T. Manternach officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday with a scripture wake service at 6 p.m. at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.
Inurnment will be in the Park Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by members of the Nora Springs American Legion Post H.D.S. 449.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest, if giving a memorial in his memory, they may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
Richard Havey was born November 30, 1925, in Charles City, the son of John and Margaret (Bockleman) Havey. Dick graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Charles City. He was inducted into the Army on January 28, 1944, at Camp Dodge, and served his country honorably and faithfully in Okinawa, Japan, until his discharge on May 20, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wis.
He was united in marriage to Lura Grady on Sept. 19, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo. Throughout his life, Dick worked for Boeing Aircraft Corp. assembling wings for B-47, bombers, Briggs Transportation for eight years, and 28 years for Crouse Cartage Co., until his retirement.
Dick loved bowling both singles and doubles and earned an Iowa State Champion for seniors; he also enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, attending family sport functions, cooking, and family get togethers making their own sauerkraut for all to enjoy.
He was a member of Epiphany Parish-St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City, American Legion H.D.S. Post 449 of Nora Springs, Mason City Veterans of Foreign Wars, was a Nora Springs council member for 11 years, and was awarded man of the year by North Iowa Traffic Club, and volunteered delivering blood for the North Iowa Blood Center.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lura Havey of Nora Springs; six children: Stephen (Dawn) Havey of Clear Lake, Rebecca Havey of Smyrna, Tenn., Margaret Havey-Ueker of Nora Springs, Phillip Havey of Little Rock, Ark., Mary Havey of Des Moines, and Daniel (Karen) Havey of LaCrosse, Wis.; a stepson, Gary (Karin) Otto of North Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by parents, infant son, Ronald, three sisters, and two brothers.
