Walter Kobliska, 86, of Charles City, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his home.

A funeral Mass for Walter Kobliska will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery at Saint Cecilia rural Elma.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, where the Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service will held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Walter James Kobliska was born February 16, 1928, in Howard County, the son of Joseph and Anna (Smith) Kobliska. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy at Elma. On November 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Springer. Norma died on May 17, 1993. They farmed all their lives.

Walter moved to Charles City in 2005. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. His interests included basketball, baseball, bowling and animals. Walter also looked forward to the music jams at the senior center.

He will be remembered as a person who enjoyed having a good conversation with anyone. Family was very important to Walter and he looked forward to spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include three daughters, Sheryl (Chris) Ostlund of Woodward, Marjorie (Brian) Loes of Mason City and Denise (Darren) Streich of Charles City; six grandchildren, Mitch (Carie) Ostlund, Shawn (Christie) Ostlund, Cory (Krystal) Loes, Brad Cline, Alyssa Cline and Denelle (Bruce) Gonnerman; seven great grandchildren; and brother, Ken Kobliska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Dennis Tolliver; grandson, Jason Loes; granddaughter, Bridget Loes; brother, Leo Kobliska; and two sisters, Celeste Kobliska and Marie Galligan.
