Monday rites
for Powell,
Charles City

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services were here Monday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church for Fred A. Powell, 86, a life-long resident who died Saturday.

He was a retired employe of the Fisher Woodworking factory and was later employed at the Oliver Corp. He was a Mason of St. Charles Lodge 141. He was Tyler of the lodge at the time of his death. He was also a member of the First Methodist Church.

He was born January 5, 1878, in Charles City, son of Llewelyn and Sidney Taylor Powell. He was married to Alice Rhinesmith June 11, 1938.

He is survived by his widow and two step children, Mrs. Myron Sylvester of Charles City and Robert Rhinesmith of Oakpark, Illinois.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church for Fred A. Powell, 86, a lifelong resident of Charles City, who died Saturday morning at Cedar Valley Hospital. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage a week ago.

He was a retired employe of Fisher Woodworking Factory and later was employed at the Oliver Corp. He was a 64 year Mason of St. Charles Lodge No. 141, and Tyler of the lodge at the time of his death.

Survived by his wife and two step-children, Mrs. Myron Sylvester, Charles City, and Robert Rhinesmith, Oak Park, Illinois.

Hauser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
