Arlene Hayner

Arlene Hayner, 61, passed away peacefully from complications due to ovarian cancer at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City on January 14, 2014.

Arlene was born on August 27, 1952, to Joseph Jacobs and Fern (Kapping) Jacobs.

There will be no formal funeral service at this time, however, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Kim (Jon) Jensen; 2324 Ocean Ave., Charles City, IA 50616.

After graduating from Charles City High School she worked various jobs which included Head Start, Ray’s Pastime, Labor Center, Uptown Café and Pamida.

She was united in marriage to Harry Hayner on October 31, 1996. He preceded her in death July 13, 2009.

Arlene had many hobbies which included baking, target shooting, fishing, crafting, rummage sales, making mints, and spending time outdoors. “Toot” was always lending a hand to others and often volunteered at the church in Klemme. Arlene made sure family and friends never went hungry through delicious cooking/baking from scratch.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her mother Fern Jacobs and brother John Jacobs. Left with cherished memories are daughter Kim Jensen (Jon) and step-granddaughter Alysia; father Joseph Jacobs; brother Michael Jacobs (Jan Wilson); two sisters, Ruth Diercks (Gene) and Penny Adams (Mark); stepson Mark Hayner; two stepdaughters Melanie Perry and Kristie Hayner; along with several nieces and nephews. Special friends include Sue Thompson and Gloria (Bill) Hasenwinkle.
