MASON CITY, IOWA — Kenneth Eugene Field, 67, of Mason City died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 13, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Martha Bennett, Floyd Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Inurnment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Kenneth Field Memorial Fund. Kenny was born November 10, 1946, in Charles City, the son of Harry and Eunice (Stewart) Field. He was united in marriage to Kathy Engels December 21, 1974. To this union two daughters were born, Tracey and Susan. Through the years, Kenny was employed by the Floyd Quarry, several area farmers, the Mississippi Barge, Perkins Restaurant, and most recently with Kraft Foods from where he retired in 2013.
Kenny loved drinking coffee, trains and visiting with his family, friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all. Kenny was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage.
Kenny is survived by two daughters, Tracey (Danny) Markham of Plattsmouth, Neb., and Susan Rae Field of Mason City; two sisters, Pat Swedberg of Lancaster, Mo., and Ginger Shipman of Nora Springs; one brother, Eddie Field of Ringsted; five grandchildren, Chelsea (Brandon) Munhall of Plattsmouth, Neb., Nicolette Walk and Zoe Walk of Plattsmouth, Neb., Madison Markham and Faithlynn Markham of Plattsmouth, Neb.; and one great-grandson, Connor Haberman of Plattsmouth, Neb.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy on March 23, 2009; one brother, Roger Field; one sister, Judy Schilling; three brothers-in-law, Bob Schilling, Ron Shipman and Deryl Swedberg.
