CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Christopher "Chops" L. Behm, 52, of Charles City and formerly of Mason City, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with Pastor Paul Schaefer from the Plymouth Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

A visitation with a public viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at the funeral home. Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Chris' name in care of his family.

Obituary for Christopher "Chops" Behm

Christopher "Chops" L. Behm, 52, of Charles City and formerly of Mason City died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

A funeral service for Chris will be held 10:30am, Friday, January 10, 2014 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City with Pastor Paul Schaefer from the Plymouth Bible Baptist Church officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

A visitation with a public viewing will be held from 5 to 7pm, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Chris' name in care of his family.

Christopher Lawrence Behm, son of John and Mary Lou (Graner) Behm was born March 24, 1961, in Mason City, Iowa. Chris attended Mason City High School and graduated with the Class of 1979. During his high school career, Chris was active in football for four years, winning the State Championship in 1978.

Following his high school education, Chris had several jobs and was active in the Mason City High School football program, coaching for over ten years. Chris later worked in the automotive business as a salesman for over 20 years selling Ford vehicles and later worked at Pritchard Family Auto Stores in Mason City up until the time of his death.

Chris was never hesitant in dropping a dollar bill in a slot machine at local casinos. He enjoyed riding bike and loved his family. Chris was a genuine man who silently gave his heart to many in the Mason City community.

Chris is survived by his parents, John Sr. and Mary Lou Behm, Mason City; brothers, John (Diane) Behm Jr., Des Moines, Tim (Charlotte Clark) Behm, Mason City, and Scott (Leslie) Behm, Mason City; nieces, Kelli Behm, Chicago, Illinois, Tori Behm, Des Moines, Mary Behm, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sarah Behm, Mason City, Cassie and Sydney Behm, both of Naples, Florida; aunts, Shirley Behm, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Millie (Norm) Mondahl, Harrison, AK, Patricia (Larry) Syzmecek, Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Joan (Joe) Evans, Mason City; his coach and good friend, Ed Lenius, Mason City along with several cousins and many of his loyal customers, who he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, uncles, Donald Behm, Jack Graner, Lewis Graner and his aunt, Barb Alitz.
