Daniel Brown

Birth: April 6, 1941
Death: January 1, 2014

Service Date: Gathering 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, Hauser Funeral Home

Daniel "Dan" Brown, 72, of Charles City, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 1, 2014.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Hauser Funeral Home.

Daniel Franklin Brown was born April 6, 1941, in La Crosse, Wiscconsin, the son of Daniel and Elvina (Moore) Brown. Dan was a bit of an adventurer even as a child. This carried over as he grew older and served in the United States Navy. Being a sales representative throughout his life, carried on this love of travel, letting him crisscross throughout the United States and even overseas.

Dan had a good sense of humor and loved a good conversation, whether it was sharing coffee with friends, or sitting out back visiting with the neighbors. But his greatest love was for his children and grandchildren. Always anticipating their visits and keeping in touch via frequent phone calls. Being "grandpa" was his proudest achievement with all the "bragging rights" that came with it.

The last few weeks of Dan's life were spent surrounded by family and friends, some from as far away as the east and west coasts. Stories were shared, laughter was plentiful and tears were shed. All rallied around Dan on this his final journey.

Those that shared in Dan's life are his wife, Suzanne Brown; sons, Jason (Shawna) Brown and Tony (Ginger) Brown; daughters, Tiffany (Dave) Scott, Jamie (Mike) Vranak and Sara Brown; grandchildren, Jason and Bryan Ent, Nikki and Ryan Brnak, Dylan Dietz, Michael and Madeline Vranak, Carson Brown, Hudson Brown and Vinny Scott; four great grandchildren; brothers, Len (Shirley) Brown and Randy (Regina) Brown; and sisters, Rose (Arnie) Snyder and Donna (Bob) Springer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved daughter, Theresa Ent; and brother, Ronnie.
