CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Betty Mae Yost, 92, of Charles City died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at First Congregational Church, 502 N. Jackson St., Charles City, with the Rev. Forrest Cornelius officiating.

The family will greet friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Betty Mae (Larson) Yost

Betty Mae Yost, 92, of Charles City, Iowa, died on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Online condolences may be left at www.FullertonFh.com.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at First Congregational Church, 502 North Jackson Street, Charles City. Dr. Forrest Cornelius will be officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:30 am on Wednesday.

Betty Yost was born on May 26, 1921 in Manilla, Iowa, to Carl and Johanna (Larsen) Larson. After high school she earned a two year college degree. On November 6, 1943 she was united in marriage at Luke Field in Phoenix, Arizona, to Howard Yost. To this union two children were born. She was an elementary teacher, homemaker and Pre-School Teacher at the Central Pre-School in Charles City.

Her hobbies included gardening, listening to music, and playing the piano; which she could do by ear. Betty really loved flowers. She also enjoyed needle work such as counter cross stitching and knitting.

The family of Betty would like to thank the staff at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home for their excellent and loving care.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Cathy (Doug) Anderson of Ohio and Stan (Linda) Yost of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Todd (Patti) Anderson, Sean (Julie) Anderson, Ben (Heather) Yost, and Breanne (Jeff) Putez; and great-grandchildren, Shelby Anderson, Harper Anderson, Madilynn Puetz, Cayden Putez, Landon Putez, Ava Yost, Gavyn Yost, and Kallen Yost.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Yost.
