Retired Farmer Dies at 94

Louis F. Schroeder, 94, a resident of 413 South Iowa Street for the past 26 years, died Wednesday morning, March 25, 1964, at Cedar Valley Hospital.

Mr. Schroeder was born in Chicago, Ill. January 8, 1870, the son of Christian and Mary Schroeder. He received his education in the Chicago schools. On May 4, 1898 he married Marie Wachsmuth.

Mr. Schroeder was a retired farmer, having farmed northeast of Charles City a number of years. He moved to Charles City 38 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Marie, of Charles City; a son, Leonard, of Charles City; four daughters, Mrs. Leona Carver, Charles City; Mrs. Harold Hallberg and Mrs. Kenneth Zielstorf, rural Charles City; and Mrs. Jay Schmidtke of Backus, Minn., five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, several sisters and brothers, a son and a grandson.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 am in the Grossman-Hage Funeral Home. Rev. Werner A. Bischoff, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
