Dorothy A. Burnett, 88, of Nashua, Iowa, died Friday, February 10, 2006, at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

She was born February 20, 1917, in Floyd, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Theda Underwood Lambert. She married Roger M. Burnett March 18, 1937, at her parents' home in Floyd. He died Oct. 20, 1975.

Mrs. Burnett and her husband farmed a number of places before retiring to Nashua in 1973. She worked at the restaurant in Nashua for many years, was a foster grandparent and provided child care for many families.

Survived by a son, Dennis (Diane) of Nashua; three daughters, Janice (Jim) Haus of Nashua, Sylvia (Gordon) Silber of Wabasha, Minnesota, and Wilda (Charles) Albrecht of Readlyn; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren (Ruth) Lambert of Reseda, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Walter Bratten of Edwardville, Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Lambert of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Robert Lambert; a sister, Ruby Bratten; a daughter-in-law, Linda Burnett; and a grandson.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hugeback-Chenoweth Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Nashua. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
