Orvel Oscar Kielsmeier was born Sep 25, 1900 at Pearl City, Illinois, to Fred and Emma (Timmer) Kielsmeier. Orvel moved to Floyd County, Iowa, in 1913 and on June 11, 1924 he married Mildred Daake at the farm home of A. A. Daake of rural Rockford. He died on Saturday, March 15, 1986. He and his wife Mildred were members of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church.

Among the survivors are three sisters: Mrs. Lilly Braend of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. Raymond (Mildred) Koehler of Rudd and Mrs. Gilbert (Ruth) Koehler of Meservey; and two brothers: Art Kielsmeier of Charles City and Walter Kielsmeier of Falls City, Nebraska.
