Funeral services were held Monday, July 6, 1987, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Charles City, Iowa, for Mrs. Kent (Connie Louise) Markham, 50, of Charles City. She died on Saturday, July 4, 1987, in a Charles City hospital after an illness. Rev. P. Mark officiated and burial was in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City.

She was born on March 18, 1937 in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Elsie (Frank) Sovereign.

She attended the Cresco Community schools, the University of Northern Iowa, and graduated from Wartburg College. On June 25, 1960 she married Kent Markham of Cresco. Mrs. Markham taught school in Osage and Charles City as a substitute teacher and was also a store clerk at Duffy's in Charles City. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Kent of Charles City; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Kelley) Wandro of Des Moines and Mrs. John (Kari) Trainer of Minneapolis; a son, Chris of Charles City; her mother, Mrs. Elsie Sovereign of Cresco; a sister, Mrs. Don (Pat) Switzer of Cedar Rapids; and by four brothers: Wayne, Lowell, Jim and Merle Sovereign, all of Cresco.
