ROCKFORD, IOWA - George Junior Kielman, 85, of Rockford, passed away peacefully after a battle with lung cancer on Friday, October 18, 2013, at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Online condolences may be left at www.Fullertonfh.com .

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St NW, Rockford, Iowa. The Reverend Judy Wooton will be officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 302 West Main, Rockford.

George was born on January 7, 1928, in Bristow, Iowa, to George and Tillie Kielman. He grew up in the Clarksville/Greene area and attended country school through the eighth grade. In his teens he helped out on the family farm.

When he was 23, George was drafted into the United States Army. He served two years in the Army and spent time over in Korea during the war. George was a very patriotic person and loved his country. He was proud to have served and to be a part of the Honor Flight in 2011.

On February 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Darlys Shepley in Charles City. Together they resided in Rockford, where they raised their big family. George worked most of his life as owner and operator of Kielman Gas and Oil in Rockford. He was a hard worker and an honest man.

In his free time George enjoyed music, whether it was singing or playing music. He could play many instruments such as the harmonica and banjo. He was self taught and would perform for anyone who would listen. George also enjoyed dancing to music, especially with his wife, Darlys.

Family was always very important to him. He liked seeing the grandkids and pulling them in the wagon behind his lawn mower. He had a soft heart for children and making them smile with his jokes. George’s mission in life was to make those he loved happy. He was a real jokester. If he was in the room, it was filled with laughter. His legacy of humor and music will be remembered by all of those who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Darlys of Rockford; children, Georgina (Rick) Chenoweth of Mason City, Tim (Cindy) Kielman of Phoenix, Arizona, Karla (Jerry) Engelhardt of Marble Rock, Kim Parcher of Rockwell, Chris (Robert) Farr of Rockford and Tracy Kielman of Rockford; grandchildren, Pat (Melanie) Chenoweth, Nicole (Ryan) Rand, Tyler Engelhardt, Tarah (Ryan) Paulus, Jesse (Cassie) Parcher, Kyle Parcher, Dustin Kuhlemeier, Jordan (Nick) Bruggeman, Dylan Kuhlemeier, Heath, Blake and Elley Farr; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Adrianna Chenoweth, Isabelle and Hayden Rand, Lyla and Leo Paulus, Zuly and Rylan Parcher, Kaden Bruggeman, and two on the way; sisters, Lorraine Majewski of Greene, Berdine (Melvin) Majewski of Charles City, Tilleen Litterer of Charles City, Caroline Schafer of Dougherty; brother-in-law, Jack Shepley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Tillie Kielman; brothers, Henry Kielman and Otto Kielman; three brothers-in-laws and one sister-in-law.
