Mr. Daake died Saturday night at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles city. Rudolph Daake, son of Frederick and Matilda (Mechelke) Daake, was born September 6, 1892, at Rockford, Iowa. On May 29, 1924, he was united in marriage with Miss Bernice Tibbits at Mason City, Iowa. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Marvlyn Clark of Sepulveda, California, and Mrs. Charlene Anderson of Irving, Texas.

Rudy, who, was known by all, spent his entire life in the Rockford community, carrying on the shoemaker trade he had inherited from his father. He had been in his place of business more than 50 years, and had the most years of continuous service among the present businessmen.

As part of his community service he had taken the responsibility of raising and lowering the flag in the city park for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Sirius Lodge 323, for more than 50 years, having received a 50-year pin. With his passing, something of an era also passes of Rockford's history.

The immediate survivors include his two daughters, six grandchildren, and one brother, Carl Daake, of Amhurst, Nebr. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
