OBITUARY-- MARY SCHAEFER

Sarah Mary Schaefer, oldest daughter of Rev. and Mrs. P. Schaefer, was born in Michigan City, Wisconsin, June 1866.

She died at the home of her brother, Jacob, near Marble Rock on May 14, 1923, lacking one month of being 57 years of age. Being the daughter of a M. E. pastor, her childhood was spent various places in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.

In 1890 she was married to Daniel Sell, who passed away in 1918. Since her marriage she made her home in Chicago and Omaha, but the last year of her life she made her home with her brother, Jacob, where during her last illness she was given every care that medical skill and loving, willing hands could do, for which she was always grateful.

She was one of a large family of eleven children, of which now only six remain, with whom she shared joys and sorrows, and always lent a helping hand or gave a word of good cheer and will now be missed by all who were dear to her.

She leaves one brother, Jacob, and five sisters, Mary, Lizzie, and Julia of this locality, Mrs. Rev. J. Daake of Pearl City, Illinois, and Mrs. Lydia Hollman of Omaha, besides a host of relatives and friends, many of whom attended her funeral held at the Flood Creek Church on Wednesday, May 16, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hoffman, and Rev. Clements of Rockford. The choir rendered some favorite old familiar hymns of their selection.

The floral offerings were beautiful. the remains were laid to rest besides those of her parents in the Flood Creek Cemetery.
