A devoted mother passed from earth in the death of Mrs. Mary Dyke whose funeral took place yesterday, March 3rd, at her old home, 701 Jackson Street, now the home of her son, C. L. Dyke. Rev. Denny, of the Congregational Church conducted the services at the house, speaking in praise of the dead and words of consolation to the living.

Mrs. Dyke's life was an uneventful one outside of the one essential fact that she lived for those who loved her and found her greatest pleasure in her own home and ministering to her children. To leave the record of a true wife and devoted mother is the greatest of all tributes.

Mary Elizabeth Luddington was born in Warren, Herkimer County, N. Y., January 27th, 1821. She was married to W. H. Dyke, January 1th, 1841 in Syracuse, N. Y. Of this union, five children were born, three girls and two boys: Eugene B., died a few years ago, C. L. Dyke, now a resident of this place, Mrs. Josephine Adron and Mrs. Harriette Ottman, both residents of Grand Junction, Colorado. One child died in infancy.

Mrs. Dyke has resided here since the early 70's up to the time she went with her children to reside in Grand Junction, Colorado., a few years ago. There she died Wednesday, February 27th, 1901, after an illness of a few weeks. She was buried beside her husband, the late W. H. Dyke, in Riverside Cemetery.
