Mewes, John Edward

MEWES - At the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mewes in this city, Sunday evening, October 13, 1895, John Edward Mewes of typhoid fever, aged 19 years, 9 months and 17 days.

The deceased was born in St. Charles Township, Floyd County. December 26, 1875. This fall he rented his father's farm in Ulster Township and was working there when he was taken sick. The sickness lasted two weeks and came to an end Sunday night.

The deceased was a large souled, industrious young man and liked by everybody. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, in which he had been confirmed in 1891.

The funeral occurred on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Lutheran Church, Rev. E. H. Caselman conducting the service.
