Ferguson, Samuel F.

FERGUSON- Died at his home, in this city, Saturday, September 26, 1896, of heart disease, Samuel F. Ferguson, aged 67 years, 2 months and 19 days.

The above announces the death of one of Floyd County's old and most respected citizens. Samuel F. Ferguson was born in Salem, N.Y., July 7, 1829. He grew to manhood in this native state. One March 25, 1857, he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy McKinney, who with three children survive him.

In 1864 Mr. Ferguson with his family came west, locating first in Wisconsin, where they remained but one year, coming on to Iowa in 1865, and settling in Floyd County, where they have resided ever since. Until a few years ago they resided on a farm, but age coming on apace they sought rest i a beautiful home in this city.

The wife and three children survive to mourn the death of a loving husband and father. The surviving children are two sons, James and John, and one daughter, Mrs. Henry Schlick, all of this city.

Funeral occurred Monday at 3 o'clock at the home, conducted by Rev. C. L. Gould. The remains were laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
